Denver merged its city and county functions in 1902, which is why there is no separate county seat and no surrounding county government to navigate. What the boundary contains, though, is not uniform. The neighborhoods differ in housing age, in household composition, and in how residents pay for elective care, and those differences show up directly in what people ask a surgeon.

Metabolic and bariatric surgery draws the widest range of inquiries across the city, and increasingly those inquiries begin after a GLP-1 medication rather than before one. The question is usually what happens when the medication stops working or stops being affordable, which is a physiology question rather than a willpower question.

Acid reflux evaluation runs a close second and is the most misrouted of the four. Years of acid suppression without objective testing is common, and the testing answers a question that medication management leaves open.
